Author's Note

When these reviews were written in 2014, Amazon weighted each review the same.  Years later- the weighting rules are changed  and now a one star counts as 53%

while the other 4 count for 47%.

This skewed 'total review score' happens when publishers encourage authors to buy

75 copies and sell them as you meet people or have a book signing.

Liking the book, they independently write reviews. Until a few years ago,

this was very kind.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best Children's book I have read in many years

This is the best Children's book I have read in many years!!! Trudi Carter understands her audience/readers and talks to them in ways each one of them can understand about what the world is in dire need of today ! Each unique animal character is valuable in its own way. Recognizing this is the key to averting hostility and "improving the environment"! This book is a treasure - and so is its author!! (When I give this book as a gift, I will probably include a pack of crayons!)

Surprising Twists in a Dragon's World

Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2014

This amazing book has many aspects that are sure to make it a best seller in children's literature. The underlying theme supports the idea that one individual can make a big difference and create a bond that changes lives. Who could ever have imagined that three little words could have such a profound effect in any given situation. "Can I help?" was the simple response to an urgent need, and then there was a change in the way Melville and Throckmorton saw one another.

Fear was overcome by a sense of love - an unselfish act that couldn't help but bring two unlikely characters out of their normal ways of looking at each other.

The story was absolutely heart-warming and gives us much to rejoice about. The true nature of love is highlighted in the character of a frog named Melville. No one is left out of this transforming love. This book is one that I would want to share with my children or grandchildren because it is entertaining and instructive. Nature comes alive in a very unique epistolary format that draws you into a fascinating world where creatures in the forest give their insights and impressions from a different perspective.

The illustrations are wonderful, too.
"Can Dragons and Frogs Be Friends?" is both exciting and enchanting. I loved it!

Verified Purchase

When Trudi wrote this book, I was really curious. Little did I know the talent she had hidden all these years that I have known her!

The book came out, and I ordered a copy for my grandchildren. The 8 year old read it and giggled all the way through. She would come running to me almost page by page and excitedly tell me about this dragon named Throckmorton and what was happening to him. Her older sister, who is 11, loved it equally as well. She beamed when telling me about Melville.

I ordered another copy for my 10 year old grand-daughter in New York who reads on an 8th grade level. I didn't know if she would think it too babyish. She loved it! She has been trying to guess what the next book will be about.

She said it was a perfect gift and that you could use her special coloring pencils.

Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2015 I bought this book for my 12 year old granddaughter who lives in Connecticut. I received it in Atlanta where I live and mailed it to her for her birthday present. The "thank you" note I received from her blew me away! She said it was a perfect gift and that you could use her special coloring pencils on the pictures. She ended the note with a "you are the best granddad in the world!" Okay, now I am set for life.
